Campaigners for democracy in the UK say their long campaign to drag the house of lords into the 21st century.. and repeal some of their outdated traditions might finally happen.
With elections about a year away - labour continues to have a 20 % lead in the polls - and their leader Kir Starmer has vowed to abolish the lords and replace it with a democratic elected chamber.
But he’s not the first to try, and it's never worked before. So can he do it?

De Waterbedrijven in Engeland loosden vorig jaar meer dan 300.000 keer ongezuiverd rioolwater in meren, rivieren en de zee omdat hun systemen de hoeveelheid niet aankonden. En dus drijven er drollen op zwemplekken, gaat de waterkwaliteit achteruit en raken ecosystemen verstoord. Maar voor het vervangen van de eeuwenoude Victoriaanse rioleringsstelsels ontbreekt het aan geld. Geld dat als winst is uitgekeerd aan aandeelhouders. Het is een groot schandaal dat menig Brit woedend maakt. Inmiddels staan de geprivatiseerde waterbedrijven op omvallen - en lopen de schadeclaims in de honderden miljoenen.
